Trying to figure him out rationally is like beating your head against a brick wall. I know, I was married to someone with a severe personality disorder and this dude is textbook. Best advice...keep your interactions impersonal. Don't react emotionally to anything he says. Don't expect him to react as you or your friends would react. He's not consistant. He's desperately protectecting a severely damaged sense of self by lashing out at others, accusing them of faults which he truly, if subconciously, suffers from himself.
I took abuse from such a person. I believed I was the evil thing. No. HE was, well, I hate to say evil, but not fully human. Incapable of empathy. Incapable of seeing any situation from any space but as how it relates to HIM. Others are not truly really to him.
These are abysmally lonely creatures, which is why they say such hateful bitter things. They cannot bear that others are happy when they are trapped within the cage of their own fashioning.
